Shangri-La

Our family so enjoyed our stay. There was a wonderful view of the beach and room for our whole crew! We liked the location and walking proximity to the pier. Just what we needed.

Bathrooms are positioned between bedrooms no bathrooms accessible from the main area must go into a bedroom. The bedrooms are large and all furnishings are in good shape

Nice to you from the back deck screens could be fixed outdoor shower head needs to be replaced I would come back to this and rent again

We had a wonderful family vacation! Considering we had to sign a waiver on the condition all was exceptionally great. Our expectation was tempered and our experience high! There is some rotting wood, broken screens spots and other superficial items that need attention. Most of the furniture, bedding, beach walk and outside deck are brand new. My three requests would be: mention that the 7th bedroom is also the laundry room, a kitchen fan is needed and FORKS, LOL. Many enjoyed the outdoor shower. It has hot water!! Please, please do not change the super cool 60's kitchen. We would definitely rent this one again!

We enjoyed our stay a Shangri-la. This is a wonderful home, we had 3 families with a total of 13 people and their was plenty of room for everyone! The house was very clean when we arrived! The bedrooms get very hot and stuffy if you close the doors. The porch is the best part of this home!!!!! It is big and had plenty of room for everyone to hang out, but it could use some ceiling fans out there. The biggest problem we had was not with the house but with the beach project :( We went out Thursday morning to a pile of huge pipes right in front of our beach access that we had to walk around the rest of the week! It would of been nice if Garden City Reality would of informed us prior to our check in of the project.

The Shangri-La was an excellent choice for us this year. The home is not updated or modern but it's very homey and comfortable. Housekeeping could have done a better job but it was relatively clean for our arrival. The beds were great. The screened in porch was a huge bonus and we spent a lot of time on it. One of the burners on the kitchen stove didn't work, however, the double oven was awesome. The view from the kitchen bar is gorgeous and the convenience of the beach is wonderful. Really enjoyed this property as did the rest of our guests. I also loved that it's primarily only one floor (minus the two ground level bedrooms) which was a change from other properties that we've rented. We'd love to rent this place again.

Very nice older beach house on the beach. The screened-in porch was great. Some of the mattresses were not the best and some of the electrical outlets did not work. Was pleased to find it had wifi, as it was not mentioned in the website description. Overall, very satisfied with the house and would rent it again.

This home took us back to our childhood and many stays at Surfside beach. We loved the porch which was our main reason for renting this home.

Check in was quick a easy. We found the unit not as clean as we had hoped. Although the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean in appearance, there was some grime clearly visible in some areas including the kitchen. We found dead"roach" carcasses in the bookshelf in the main sitting area. We also had a few experiences with live roaches inside the house and on the screened in porch area.

For the most part, the accommodations were comfortable. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach and other amenities in the area.

The wireless internet router had to be rebooted several times per day because it kept hanging in the middle of internet sessions.

We really enjoyed our vacation staying at the Shangri-la! There was plenty of space for everyone, it felt very homey amd the porch is by far our favorite part of Shangri-la. We spent almost every evening relaxing, playing games, and making new family memories on the big porch.

We have used this property several times in the past. It is just a good old beach house with all of the amenities that we look for in a beach house. There is large screened porch with rockers and eating tables. We ate most of our meals on the porch.

We loved our 2 week stay at the Shangri La. everything was wonderful...the living space, the bedrooms, the spacious screened in porch. We have already reserved it for next summer for 2 weeks. the only problems were the presence of roaches, to the point we would be interested in hiring an exterminator to come in and treat prior to our vacation next year and also an odor in the "pink" bathroom that we could not dispel. But even with those issues the house was so comfortable and well equipped that we had one of the best vacations ever!

We have stayed at this property off and on for 29 years. We knew the property and it's pluses and minuses from past experience. The lower bedrooms needed a better cleaning than the "weekly" cleaning it got before we arrived. The dual air conditioners were not working in unison to keep the bedrooms on both sides of the house at a consistent temperature. It seemed one side or the other was hot while the air conditioner on the cold side was running full blast.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Shangri-La very much. The screened in porch and outdoor shower were great amenities. The updated kitchen appliances were a nice surprise. The only thing we missed was having a large table for the family to eat together or play games. We will certainly consider renting it again.

The location of the home is wonderful. The screened porch and deck were a great asset. The outdoor shower was terrific and preferred by most of our family. There are some issues. The airconditioners cannot be turned below 72 and there is not a good way to "stir the air". Sleeping was warmer than we would like. Mattresses are old and somewhat uncomfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and the appliances are all in good condition. The wiring in the kitchen is an issue. If you use virtually any appliance at the same time as the microwave you will trip the breaker. Check in time is later than some other property management companies we have used. In spite of those issues our family had a good time!

We had a great time. The property was a great value when compared to the cost of others. It was very clean. The cleaning staff was still there when we checked in and though I offered a monetary tip, she refused. I appreciate her integrity. The view is wonderful from the deck and the porch. The furniture was quite adequate and in good condition. Upon our arrival inspection, we saw several nails protruding on the decking steps and we reported that to Garden City Realty. It was repaired immediately. Overall, we all were very satisfied and will use Garden City Realty again. For the negatives - this property needs updated, especially the electric. You cannot run the toaster, and microwave while the refrigerator is running. All of this is on a single 20amp circuit when the refrigerator itself should be on a single circuit. Though the air conditioning appears new, we were advised to not turn it below 72 or it would freeze up. That is a sign of something not being right and 72 is a bit warm for sleeping for many of us. Also, the bedrooms always seemed a bit damp as the a/c was not cycling enough to pull out the moisture. There are two zones for the thermostats and they act in opposition to each other as they are in the same space. The a/c deck needs some sound insulation for the adjoiniong bedrooms. The bathroom condition was somwhat less thanwhat we expected such as the caulking, age of fixture etc.The beds need new mattresses as our was a series of mattress pads. Still, those annoyances did not dampen our stay. I recommend Garden City Realty and the Shangri-la.
