Drift Away

We have been going to the Grand Strand for a long weekend for 30+ years & Drift Away is our favorite rental. It’s very clean & convenient to the beach, restaurants, nightlife, etc..-although our nightlife ain’t what it used to be!

Loved Drift Away and Surfside Beach. The house was great with enough room for everyone and very clean. Easy walk to the beach (one block) and the pool was fun too. The property had everything that you could want/need right there. We made dinner/breakfast several times and Drift Away had it all in the kitchen. The property is a short walk to several amazing restaurants, we tried Chimichanga Llama, Pizza Hyena and Neal & Pam's and would highly recommend them all. The only downer was that the pier is not open yet but we will be back next year to see it. I

Drift Away was the ideal house for our family. Its proximity to the beach was great! The pool was the best place to hang out with the grandkids. The house was clean .....we could have used more silverware.....We all considered this vacation”Almost Heaven!”

The property was perfect for us. We loved being on the corner lot with lots of privacy but also bring a very quick walk to the beach. Everything was neat and clean and kitchen was well stocked with pots and utensils for cooking. Definitely was one of our favorite places we have stayed.

The house was beautiul, clean, and perfect location. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. We were close to the beach and area restaurants but we had alot of privacy also.

Drift Away was the perfect location for our quick weekend visit with family and friends. The house was neat and clean, layout was perfect with three bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs and it was so nice to have the private pool! Location was great- walking distance from restaurants and the pier and beach access was so easy! Surfside is a nice quiet, family neighborhood vibe. The property management was so friendly and great, I recommend calling instead of booking online because their customer service was good and helpful in answering questions and making recommendations on location and reservations.

This house offered a very close walk to the beach. The house was very clean and well stocked with kitchen items that were as good as I would have in my own home. Plenty of room for 8 guests without using sofabed. Heated pool clean and ready to use. Our only complaint was we had to call maintenance for a TV issue. It was resolved but the complaint was the maintenance person just let himself in. Did not call first. My daughter was home taking a shower . When she came downstairs maintenance had let himself in . Should not have happened. In other words he could have let himself in any time day or night while we were there while we weren't that was not a comfortable feeling. Garden City realty was true to their word and got us in as soon as possible on the day of our arrival and they made sure the pool was ready for use.

Relaxing, without issues. Very minor complaints one lounge pool chair was broken, sheets didn’t stay on. Bedspreads need replacing and washing. What a great week overall. Garden City realty very accommodating.

Our family enjoyed our time at The Drift Away. This was a last minute decision to book and we were pleasantly surprised this unit was still available. This was our first time to Surfside Beach and wasn’t sure how convenient the access to the beach would be but we were happy that it was so close. We liked the layout of the house but it could use some updates in the furniture.. We had a couple issues during our stay. We arrived after hours, picked up our keys, then to find our linens had not arrived. We called the after hour number and they came right away. Also the TV wasn’t working right and the one bathroom toilet was leaking.. We called the maintenance and came and fixed the toilet but the TV still didn’t work properly. All in all, we would recommend The Drift Away.

We were excited to come to Surf Side for the very first time. The anticipation was well earned. The house looked more used than the photos but with five grandchildren it suited us. I believe it’s time to purchases a couple of new couches (then I’ll give 5 stars). We were very happy with Garden City Realty. They gave us valuable information in booking that saved us money. We’ll be using them again in the future.

Took my three teens for a last minute beach trip and Garden City Realty booked us with Drift Away. Very organized check in/check out and courteous agents. The house was clean, comfy, and had a well stocked kitchen. Books, games and puzzles too. Beach just across the street and nice size, clean private pool. Have rented many houses along the North and South Carolina coast and I was very pleased with Drift Away. Loved the quiet neighborhood -- my son rode his bike all over the area. Would definitely consider returning.

As a group trip my family and 2 other families decided to take a trip to the beach for Thanksgiving. This house was awesome and accommodated all of our needs to the T. Everything was clean and very usable. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone and I will more than likely being staying here again myself.

We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well stocked with small appliances, dishes, serving pieces etc. The location is very convenient to restaurants and shopping and a short walk to the beach. The area is very quiet.

Cute house, nice layout very comfortable beds (bedspreads could be updated) Heated pool was excellent! When we arrived AC was not working which is typical here in SC, called GC realty and they had someone there right away, Freon was out which was fast & easy fix, AC guy was a sweetheart and very patient even with 4 little kids screaming/running around. Pool light was also not working, but GC realty had pool guys there right away who replaced the light that burnt out. Minor things which were no bother to us since we were just relaxing around the house & pool. I love the privacy/location of the house doesn't feel like your in a fish bowl! Lovely yard, beautiful pool, porches have a great (Peek)view of the ocean, and is just a few steps from the beach. House is fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc. and labeled which made it much easier to find things! Also stocked with pool noodles/ board games, high chair and play pen which was AWESOME. Just beware of 2am phone calls- apparently Klocker's Tavern has this house's phone # listed as their business phone# on Google.

We had 8 people, 4 adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of room for everyone without feeling on top of each other. Nice pool and great proximity to the beach, only like a minutes walk. Less than a 10 minute walk to some wonderful restraunts

The house was very comfortable. Needs painted, carpet on steps were disgusting and needed cleaning. The shower curtain liner in the King room was mildewed and pink, and was tied in knots to the rod to keep it on. The pool area had trash around it, and a pair of old flip flops lying there. There were 3 blue plastic blue chairs, 2 were broken and if you sat in them, you would get a good pinch. The house overall is very nice, just needs a little bit of upkeep. If these issues were fixed, I would definitely stay here again. We were only there for 3 nights due to Hurricane Matthew, but it was a very comfortable house, and in a prime area if you want to be close to the beach, but not stay in a condo. We like to ride our bikes, and this location makes it nice to do that. I would recommend this house if the issues I mentioned were fixed. Also, there are quite a few rails loose and off of the balconies. We had an 18 month old out there, and it was scary, so we did not go out there with her.

Everything worked, and also the support staff was great as well when one of the keys needed to be switched out. I was very pleased with my stay and I would recommend it to anyone.

We were overjoyed that the accommodationsecond were exactly how they were portrayed on the website. Access to the beach was so close and the beach was NOT overcrowded or dirty. Kids had a terrific time. Our teenager wished there had been a golf cart with the rental but we ended up renting one anyhow. The only issue we had was with the garbage schedule; it did not get picked up on Wednesday as was indicated. Also there was a broken shelf in the refrigerator, but it didn't cause any issue for us! Other than that the property was perfect for our family of eight.When I turned in the keys the agent did not ask if we enjoyed our stay which I thought was odd considering the money spent but maybe she was busy or distracted, regardless I'd do business with this company again for sure.

They quickly responded when we arrived late at night the upstairs A/C was broken and in less than an hour we had not one but two repair men working on it as the first one was not familiar with the system this kind of customer service is uncommon today and I thank them for it

I wanted to take my older children and grandchildren to the beach for their first time. The little ones loved the pool, first thing we done when we got there. It was a short walk to the beach which was nice. House was nice, clean,roomy and we loved how the kitchen was marked where everything was it saved us time. The house was great. There was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy. It was a short walk to the beach and there was plenty of parking. The saltwater pool was a very nice bonus. There were a couple of things I didn't like with rental company. The bug guy showed up on Saturday morning and wanted in. No one had told me about this and I didn't let him in but it was a uncomfortable was early and I was alone at the house. We decided to stay an extra day and called to see if we could rent for another night . It was an off season time and the house was not rented it would have been nice to have been given a discount for multiple nights.

We really enjoyed staying at the Drift Away property. The check-in at Garden City could not have been any easier or quicker. The house was very clean and a perfect size for us. Great location in Surfside Beach and only one short block to the beach. Will definitely stay at this property again. Leaving in South Carolina I have rented a lot of beach houses and this is one of the best we have ever rented.

Overall, loved the house, loved the location, loved the pool. Our entourage totaled 11 people: 4 adults, 5 teenagers, a five year old, and a one year old. The house was set up very nicely for our group and never felt like we were getting in each others way. The pool did get a little crowded at times, but we knew going in it was on the smaller side. Would definitely recommend the home, but there are few things that need to be addressed. Master tub is stained and needs a thorough cleaning; pool landscaping needs to be addressed as the weeds were beginning to overtake the bushes; and, we couldn't find a working outlet outside. None of these things were a major concern, but felt they were worth mentioning. Check in and checkout literally took seconds. Overall great property and would go back again.

The Drift Away was a great vacation home. Our 7 grandchildren really enjoyed the pool and spent most of their waking hours. My husband and I enjoyed that there was one bedroom on the first floor, so that we could get a break from the grandchildren , who stayed in the upstairs bedrooms, along with their parents. The house was stocked with everything that you could possibly need and was very clean and absolutely beautiful!

It was a nice house, plenty or bedroom space. The living room and dining room were a little small for the number of people in the house (9 most the time). The table fit 8 but there was only couch seating for 5. The pool was cleaned 3 times a week (and an extra time because a tropical storm blew through). Some parts of the house were a little older/worn and are in need of updating. But overall it met my expectations.
We have some maintenance needs during our visit and the first time we were quickly taken care of (toilet) but the second time was never resolved (dryer) so I had to take care of the best I could.

The kitchen had everything. It was so well stocked. The new refrigerator and new washer and dryer were great! We love the house and plan to stay there again. The only suggestions are better wifi and the wood deck around the pool needs to be re-done. We did get a few splinters in our feet and hands. Thank you for allowing us to stay at this wonderful house.

Our family had a WONDERFUL time at Surfside Beach and the Drift Away house was perfect! It was very clean, well equipped, VERY close and direct access to the beach and the pool was GREAT! Initially we had a problem with the WiFi but the staff at Garden City Realty were supportive and worked until service was restored. We can't wait until we return next year!

We enjoyed our stay at the Drift Away and we would stay there there again. The property was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was equiped as well as any where we have stayed. I would suggest that they get a larger coffee maker. I have delt with Garden City Realty for about 15 years and they always provide excelent service. We had a small issue with the air conditioner and it was corrected immediately. Brad Hatoway always provides me with great service. We look forward to going back in November.

We really liked the house the house and the location. We had two issues - the Wi-Fi was terrible it would constantly come and go, and the pool was never cleaned while we were there. If those were fixed in the future I would give it a 5 and not hesitate to stay there again.
