Visitors to the area may or may not know that Myrtle Beach is home to one of the House of Blues venues. If you haven’t been to one of the HOBs before, they are a great place to see a variety of really cool performances. Located in Barefoot Landing, on the northern end of Myrtle Beach, the building, both inside and out, looks like a sheet-metaled warehouse straight of the Louisiana Bayou, with tons of art and interesting artifacts lining the walls. Visitors and locals alike can take advantage of some of the truly varied and big time acts that come through HOB; everyone from Widespread Panic, Kanye West, and Britney Spears have performed here as well as reggae legends The Wailers, beach music, country, heavy metal and alternative rock groups, as well as tribute bands to such greats as Elton John, Bon Jovi and Billy Joel. It’s a very intimate space, with a first floor standing area as well as VIP seating with tables and chairs on the second level. If there’s someone you’ve been wanting to see, this venue provides a great opportunity to see the artist up close and personal.
But the HOB isn’t just for concerts, they are also a restaurant. Their menu features American standards such as burgers and pizza blended with traditional southern dishes like Meatloaf and Fried Chicken with a dash of Cajun influence thrown in, ie Creole Seafood Jambalaya. There are plenty of booths to tuck yourself into, and they feature a bar menu that is perfect for light munchies and appetizers before catching a show.
For a great family adventure, be sure to catch the Murder Mystery Dinner theater every Friday. This is an interactive comedy whodunit where a murder happens during the course of your meal and you’re in the middle of the investigation! Everyone is a suspect, it might even be you! The sleuth who figures it out will be rewarded. (This show is recommended for children ages 13+).
Another long running and super popular HOB activity is the Sunday Gospel Brunch, where trio Glory performs an amazing repertoire of hymns and gospel classics while you feast on a buffet featuring southern favorites and traditional brunch classics. No tickets, it’s a first come first serve basis, kids are $9.95, adults $19.95 Call House of Blues 843-272-3000 for more information or visit http://www.houseofblues.com/venues/clubvenues/myrtlebeach/
