Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Brecken and his family moved to Pawleys Island in 2002. Growing up on the coast, Brecken developed a passion for exploring the marshes, tidal creeks, and rivers along the South Strand. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

He spends most of his free time chasing fish but also loves road trips, Gamecock football, and spending time with friends and family. He also has a small Boxer pup named Millie.
