The holidays are officially here, and on the Grand Strand that means there is no shortage of things to do to celebrate this “most wonderful time of the year”! Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles has become a can’t miss event over the years, and since it runs every weekend from now until Christmas, there’s no excuse not to experience it at least once.
A Christmas tree lighting or parade is always a good kick off to the holiday season and a great way to get yourself in a jolly mood. There are ample opportunities to catch one of these events as most every community in our area has their own.
There are also many holiday performances to take in along the Grand Strand from live theater shows like The Carolina Opry, Pirate’s Voyage and Legends in Concert which each have their own special Christmas shows to the many area church Christmas cantatas. We are also very lucky to have a local ballet theater which produces its version of The Nutcracker on multiple dates throughout the season. (For me, it just isn’t Christmas until I’ve seen The Nutcracker!)
Last, but not least, when the hustle and bustle of Christmas is over, there’s still New Year’s Eve! This year there is a bounty of fun-filled (and not too expensive) New Year’s celebrations from the laid back to the wild and crazy!
Whether you live here all year long, or you are visiting our area, we want you to make the most of the holiday season, and take the time to enjoy yourself a little, too! See below for a list of holiday events we have compiled…now get out there and have yourself a merry little Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
