It’s time to journey towards Little River for the 38th Annual World-Famous Blue Crab Festival. On May 18 and 19, the Historic Little River Waterfront will be bustling with live beach music, unique vendors, and plenty of fresh, local seafood.
What started as a small waterfront gathering in 1981, has turned into one of the longest-running street festivals in the Southeast. It has also been awarded the Best Annual Event/Festival on the Grand Strand by the Sun News consecutively for more than eight years. If you’re looking to join in on the fun, this is the year to start. With more than 250 vendors, crafts, entertainment, and even a kid’s zone, it will be a year for the books.
Underneath those mossy live oaks, expect a community atmosphere that has been fostered by the people of Little River. It is both family and biker friendly, sporting a crowd who will enjoy a day in the sun. One of the best parts of this event is how much it gives back. Local entertainers will include RiverMist Band, Jim Quick & Coastline, Carolina Soul Band, and Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot. As the food is locally sourced off of our Carolina shore, imagine being in seafood heaven. Crack open some crab legs and clams and snack on shrimp– all while looking over those lapping waves and sandy beaches.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Tickets may be purchased online or the day of the event for just $5. For additional fun out on the water, take the water taxi. The $15 ticket includes a round trip on the Sea Screamer, admission into the festival, and parking. There will be parking with a shuttle available for other guests as well.
Get ready to chow down on the Grand Strand.
