Anyone who lives on or likes to visit the South end of the Grand Strand are in for a treat! A new, state-of-the-art movie theater has opened at the Inlet Square Mall! The 11 screen cinema features Sony surround sound, comfy leather chairs, and stadium seating, sure to be a hit with residents of Garden City, Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island who have had to drive to Market Common or beyond to watch a movie on the big screen. One interesting item: in keeping with the electronic age, you will no longer be handed a movie ticket by an actual person. Moviegoers will buy their tickets at a kiosk, which will also offered assigned seating if you desire to sit in in one particular spot and not have to fight the crowds or get there early to get a good seat.
New Movie Theater in Murrells Inlet Opens with a Bang!
But the movie theater isn’t the only new addition; they have transformed the space into an entertainment complex featuring a 16 lane bowling alley, a large arcade and a Starlight Cafe, complete with a full menu and bar and a room for private parties.
The theater opened this past Thursday with a midnight premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and featured live entertainment, face painting, jump castles, promotional giveaways and more. By all accounts, the theater is more than anyone expected, and will hopefully bring in lots of traffic for the newly renovated, yet still largely vacant stores at Inlet Square Mall.
